Shiniсhi Kudo, a high school detective known as the "modern Sherlock Holmes" for his remarkable success in solving complex crimes, often interferes with police investigations and exposes criminals. One day, while on a date with his childhood friend Ran Mori, he witnesses a crime committed by mysterious men in black. Unwilling to leave the famous teenager alive after what he has seen and heard, the mafia members give him a poisoned pill and disappear. Contrary to the criminals' expectations, the poison has an unexpected effect on the boy.
