The manga is based on the popular Japanese browser-based MMO game "Kantai Collection". The original story is about anthropomorphic ship girls from World War II who are engaged in a struggle against an unknown enemy. Every day they go out to sea to fight, dreaming of the day when the sea will finally become peaceful.
